Greetings Brothers, Sisters, and Siblings of IAM LOCAL 2734!
We are excited to share some important updates regarding our local bylaws! It has been a while since they were last revised, with the most recent approved version dating back to 2009. Although an update was proposed in 2018, it was unfortunately not approved due to the challenges brought on by COVID.
However, great progress has been made! At our March meeting, our dedicated members reviewed and approved 68 pages of newly introduced bylaws. It was a long session, but together, we pushed through and accomplished something significant. We look forward to finalizing these updates after the bylaw committee submits their recommendations for the April meeting. These much-needed revisions include new language introduced by IAM Auditors in August 2024, ensuring our local remains strong for years to come.
Additionally, we are aligning with the District and International per capita by formally introducing a new minimal per capita increase of $5.00, which was presented on the floor and passed in March. To finalize this, a special meeting will be held for a secret ballot vote on the new per capita language, in accordance with the constitution. This vote will likely take place during the May Monthly Meeting—stay tuned for the official date and venue, which will be posted soon!
