It is with deep sadness that IAM Local 2734 shares the passing of Sister Rowena F. Ormita, who passed away on July 7, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sister Rowena began her career on March 24, 2015, with ATS as a Groomer. Throughout her time with the membership, she was known as a kind, cheerful, and dedicated member who always carried herself with a smile. Her positive attitude and kindness left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the difficult period of COVID, when ATS released many of its contracts to other vendors in order to focus its efforts on the WestJet contract, the Union worked to protect the Groomers\u2019 jobs. Through that process, the Union worked with the Company to secure continued employment opportunities through administrative duties while maintaining their Union status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When ATS later lost the contract, the Union continued to work to protect these members by transitioning them to the new contract holder, Unifi Aviation Canada, on the ramp operation. Sister Rowena was part of that journey and remained a valued member of Local 2734 throughout her career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a 10+ year member, Sister Rowena was a great asset to the membership and to those around her. She will be remembered not only for her years of service, but for the warmth, kindness, and positive spirit she brought to the workplace every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On behalf of IAM Local 2734, we extend our deepest condolences to Sister Rowena\u2019s family, friends, coworkers, and all members who knew and worked alongside her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
