Over the past four years, IAM Local 2734 has undergone significant growth and transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I stepped into leadership coming out of COVID, our Local was representing just two employers \u2014 Swissport and ATS<\/strong> \u2014 with approximately 150 members<\/strong>. Like much of the aviation industry at the time, we were rebuilding, uncertain, and facing constant instability across the ramp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, IAM Local 2734 stands nearly 1,500 members strong<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through focused organizing, persistence, and solidarity, we now proudly represent members across a broad range of employers and operations at YYC, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n This growth did not happen by chance. It came from hard conversations, trust built on the floor, and a clear commitment to protecting workers from the instability that has plagued the aviation industry for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have seen firsthand what happens when ramp operations are fragmented and contracts are allowed to flip unchecked \u2014 most notably in Montreal<\/strong> Quebec<\/strong>, where workers paid the price through lost protections, lost seniority, and eroded standards. IAM Local 2734 is determined not to let that happen here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That is why we made it manditory to organizing the entire ramp<\/strong>. IAM Local 2734 today is stronger, more united, and better positioned than ever to protect our members and the future of aviation work at YYC.
