{"id":1710,"date":"2025-03-24T12:04:13","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T18:04:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iamaw2734.ca\/?p=1710"},"modified":"2025-03-24T12:05:43","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T18:05:43","slug":"iam-union-discusses-impacts-on-aerospace-workers-amidst-tariff-uncertainty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iamaw2734.ca\/?p=1710","title":{"rendered":"IAM Union Discusses Impacts on Aerospace Workers Amidst Tariff Uncertainty"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goiam.org\/news\/imail\/\">iMail<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 18, 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IAM Union is closely monitoring the impacts of ever-changing tariff policy on all IAM members, including aerospace workers who rely on heavily integrated supply chains, especially between the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IAM International Affairs Director Peter Greenberg was recently featured on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigmarker.com\/nbaa\/nbaa-news-hour-the-tariff-landscape-what-we-know-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>an expert panel webinar<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;hosted by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greenberg noted that the IAM represents more than 100,000 aerospace workers in both the U.S. and Canada. Aircraft and their components are often manufactured and shipped across the border several times for assembly by highly-skilled IAM members. A tariff war between the two nations puts that relationship at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WATCH:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigmarker.com\/nbaa\/nbaa-news-hour-the-tariff-landscape-what-we-know-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>The Tariff Landscape \u2014 What We Know Now<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe supply chains in North America have become so integrated in aerospace that it would be very difficult for manufacturers to move to solely U.S.-based suppliers, or solely Canadian suppliers,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is a deep well of aerospace skills, particularly in the U.S. and Canada, that allow companies to take advantage of economies of scale.
